OTTAWA, Ontario (August 20, 2024) – PWHL Ottawa has announced the signing of forward Danielle Serdachny, selected in the first round, second overall in the 2024 PWHL Draft, to a three-year Standard Player Agreement through the 2026-27 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season.
“We are thrilled to add Danielle as a core piece of our organization for the next 3 years,” said General Manager Mike Hirshfeld. “We love her complete 200-foot hockey game and the skill and goal-scoring she will bring to our lineup. We believe she has the opportunity to develop into one of the best players in the PWHL and are excited to watch her game grow to new heights in Ottawa.”
A native of Edmonton, AB, Serdachny had the most memorable moment of her young career on April 14, when she scored the golden goal that enabled the Canadian national team to defeat their American rivals in the final game of the IIHF Women’s World Championship. It was her second appearance in the tournament–– she won a silver medal in Brampton, Ontario, in 2023.
In 2024, Serdachny completed her college career at Colgate University with an impressive 61 points (22 goals and 39 assists) in 40 games, also serving as team captain. In total, she collected 238 points in 180 NCAA games.
“I am extremely excited and honoured to officially be a member of the PWHL Ottawa organization,” said Serdachny. “I am looking forward to beginning this next chapter in my career and am beyond excited to join the players, staff, management, and fans in Ottawa.”
Serdachny joins a roster with fellow 2024 PWHL Draft picks Anna Meixner and Gwyneth Philips, free agents Rebecca Leslie, Logan Angers and Alexa Vasko, and 14 returning players including forwards Emily Clark, Shiann Darkangelo, Brianne Jenner, Gabbie Hughes, Kateřina Mrázová, Hayley Scamurra, Natalie Snodgrass and Tereza Vanišová, defenders Ashton Bell, Zoe Boyd, Savannah Harmon, Jincy Roese and Aneta Tejralová as well as goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer.
Per the Players Association, salary terms of contracts will not be disclosed.

L’ÉQUIPE LPHF OTTAWA ACCORDE UN CONTRAT DE TROIS ANS À LA RECRUE DANIELLE SERDACHNY
OTTAWA, Ontario (20 août 2024) – L’équipe LPHF Ottawa a annoncé aujourd’hui la mise sous contrat de l’attaquante Danielle Serdachny. L’athlète qui est originaire d’Edmonton, en Alberta, a été sélectionnée en première ronde (deuxième au total) lors du dernier repêchage de la Ligue professionnelle de hockey féminin (LPHF). Elle a signé un contrat de trois ans, bon pour les saisons 2026-27.
« Nous sommes très enthousiastes d’annoncer l’arrivée de Danielle au sein de notre organisation pour les trois prochaines années », a déclaré le directeur général Mike Hirshfeld. « Nous aimons particulièrement son jeu complet dans les deux sens de la patinoire ainsi que ses talents de marqueuse naturelle. Nous croyons qu’elle peut devenir l’une des meilleures joueuses de la PWHL et nous sommes excité de la voir atteindre son plein potentiel à Ottawa. »
Serdachny a connu le moment le plus mémorable de sa jeune carrière le 14 avril dernier, quand elle a marqué le but en or qui a permis à l’équipe nationale canadienne de vaincre ses rivales américaines en finale du Championnat mondial féminin de l’IIHF. Il s’agissait de sa deuxième participation à cette compétition annuelle. Elle a remporté une médaille d’argent à Brampton, en Ontario, en 2023.
En 2024, elle a également complété son stage universitaire avec une impressionnante récolte de 61 points (22 buts et 39 mentions d’aide) en 40 parties. Elle était la capitaine des Raiders de l’université Colgate. Elle a récolté, au total, 238 points en 180 rencontres dans la NCAA.

Serdachny devient la troisième joueuse issue du repêchage 2024 de la LPHF à s’entendre avec l’équipe, après Anna Meixner et Gwyneth Philips. Les joueuses autonomes Rebecca Leslie, Logan Angers et Alexa Vasko se sont aussi ajoutées à la formation. Elles rejoignent un groupe de 14 joueuses qui ont passé la saison 2024 dans la capitale. Il s’agit des attaquantes Emily Clark, Shiann Darkangelo, Brianne Jenner, Gabbie Hughes, Kateřina Mrázová, Hayley Scamurra, Natalie Snodgrass et Tereza Vanišová, des défenseuses Ashton Bell, Zoe Boyd, Savannah Harmon, Jincy Roese et Aneta Tejralová et de la gardienne Emerance Maschmeyer.
