Media Accreditation Guidelines
- Requests
Media may only enter a venue to attend practices, games, and/or other hockey-related media access periods or events hosted by the PWHL and/or the Teams, provided they are duly accredited.
All Media credentials must be requested as soon as possible before a PWHL or team event, but no later than 72 hours prior such event. Late applications may not be considered.
The credential request forms for each team can be accessed by visiting the following pages:

Credential requests must come from a Media organizations’ management, editor, or corresponding supervisor and be for accredited working Media on specific assignment for a recognized news organization, sports publication, and multimedia outlet.
Space in media areas is limited. Therefore, each outlet and assigned Media members requesting access will be considered on a case-by-case basis and subject to the sole discretion of the PWHL and Teams. Non-sports Media outlets will be considered on the basis of availability and assignment. Photographers and photo agencies will only receive accreditation when on assignment. Credentials are only valid for the game or season during which they are issued.
“Media” consists of the following working professionals affiliated with recognized media organizations: writers, photographers, podcasters, radio and television sportscasters and their crews and digital content creators.
2. Applicable Rules
Each accredited Media agrees to be bound by the terms set forth on their credential and agrees to comply with the following:
Credential Usage and Access: Media are required to wear their credential at all times while in the teams’ facilities, at the game venue or at any other formal, scheduled interaction with PWHL and teams’ personnel and players.
Credentials are non-transferable.
Media shall at all times act respectfully, in a professional manner and comply with the PWHL’s and Teams’ rules, regulations and policies.
Media attending practices, games, and/or other hockey-related media access periods or events hosted by the PWHL and/or Teams shall be serving in a working capacity for the sole purpose of covering such game, practice, or event. Media shall only access those areas of a venue accessible with their credential.
In some arenas, off-ice warm-up areas intended for players only may be visible to Media. We require Media to refrain from taking photographs or videos in these areas.
Live Game Handheld Camera Operators will be given priority access to designated locations for capturing game coverage. Due to limited space along the glass, photographers in these areas may be asked to relocate periodically to accommodate operational needs.
Video, Photography, and Trademark Usage
- No Media member may use video or photographs of PWHL games for commercial purposes without the express written consent of the PWHL.
- No Media shall use the PWHL logo and/or the Teams’ logos or any other intellectual property of PWHL and/or Teams for commercial purposes without the express written consent of the PWHL.
- Live transmission of PWHL games, practices, and broadcast content is reserved for rights holders.
- Television broadcasters can use footage of PWHL games obtained either via 1) action dubbed from a PWHL rights holder broadcast, or 2) footage request to PWHL Communications (Press@thepwhl.com) with credit only in connection with its regularly scheduled news programming within a week of the game. Highlights aired as part of a continuous news program should not be longer than two (2) minutes. Credit: PWHL and appropriate broadcaster. Any exceptions to the above rule must receive express written consent from PWHL Communications.
- Non-game video and audio content may be posted, including practices and interviews with players and staff. No integrated advertising is permitted.
- Media may post a reasonable number of photographs for editorial coverage of the PWHL and not for any commercial, advertising or promotional purpose.
3. CREDENTIAL REVIEW
The PWHL and its Teams reserve the right to address non-compliance with its rules and policies by Media members, including, if necessary, ejection from the arena/venue, revoking of credentials, denial of access to future PWHL events and instituting legal action.
Reasons may include, but are not limited to:
- Violation of these Media Accreditation Guidelines.
- Failure to act in a professional manner towards other media members, fans, or arena staff.
- Asking for autographs or personal photos of players or coaches.
- Conducting unauthorized interviews.
- Using a credential issued to another individual.
- Copying, duplicating or otherwise reproducing or distributing a credential or its image in any manner, in whole or in part. This includes posting photos of credentials.
- Unprofessional behavior, such as encroachment into restricted areas, cheering in the press box, working while consuming or under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, asking inappropriate questions unrelated to sports or the event, escorting unaccredited third parties to media areas, failure to abide by posted rules.
The PWHL reserves the right to review these Media Accreditation Guidelines as necessary from time to time. Changes will be posted at thepwhl.com.
