WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
The Frost have won both their games against the Sceptres this season after losing three of the four matchups last season. This is the first time ever that Minnesota has played back-to-back regular-season games against Toronto.
Minnesota won its last game against Toronto in a shootout, which was the Frost’s fourth victory past regulation this season. That is the most in the PWHL this season while matching the most for any team last season (Boston, Minnesota, New York, Toronto).
Claire Thompson, a Toronto native, had two goals and an assist in her last game against the Sceptres. No other PWHL defender has reached those marks in a single game.
Thompson (2G, 2A), Taylor Heise (4A), Michela Cava (3G), Britta Curl-Salemme (2G), Brooke Bryant (2A) and Kendall Coyne Schofield (2A) have all produced multiple points for the Frost in two games against the Sceptres this season.
Dominique Petrie will return to the Frost lineup for the first time since Dec. 19. The rookie had three goals, including one against Toronto, in her first four games prior to her LTIR stint.
Grace Zumwinkle will return to the Frost lineup tonight. The reigning PWHL Rookie of the Year missed eight games with an upper body injury dating back to Jan. 2 against Boston.
Tonight’s contest is the first of a four-game road trip for the Frost. Still to come are stops in Ottawa (Thursday), Boston (Sunday), and Montréal (Tuesday, Feb. 18).
The Sceptres won their last game against the Charge, 4-2, despite being outshot 32-18. They are the second PWHL team this season to win a game by multiple goals while having a -14 shot differential or worse, along with the Fleet on Jan. 22 against Toronto (4-1, 36-22).
Blayre Turnbull scored twice in her last game against Ottawa, giving her five total goals on the season. The Sceptres have four different players with at least five goals this season, most of any PWHL team.
Raygan Kirk recorded her third win of the season against the Charge. All other PWHL rookie goalies have combined for two victories (Kayle Osborne and Gwyneth Philips each one).
Renata Fast had a career-high three-point performance (1G, 2A) last time against the Frost. All three points were scored on the power play as the teams combined for a record five PPG.
Fast (2G, 2A) and Jesse Compher (2G, 1A) have scored goals in both games against the Frost this season. Sarah Nurse (1G, 1A), Daryl Watts (1G, 1A) and Hannah Miller (2A) also have multiple points. Nurse has been placed on LTIR and will miss tonight’s game and Watts enters with a four-game point streak.
Laura Kluge will make her Sceptres debut after signing with the team. She helped Germany clinch a spot in the 2026 Olympic Winter Games during the international break.
Natalie Spooner will make her highly anticipated season debut after being activated from LTIR. The 2024 MVP last appeared during the playoffs against Minnesota on May 13.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“It’s good to get everyone back together and get back to business. We closed out the first half on a good note and now we need to pick up where we left off. We’re very familiar with Toronto and know they’re a great team. We’ll need to be great in every facet of the game tonight.” - Frost Head Coach Ken Klee.
“I’m so excited to have our team back together heading into today’s game. Our team has been playing determined and confident, and I can’t wait to get this next stretch of Toronto hockey started at Coca-Cola Coliseum!” - Sceptres defender Kali Flanagan.
TUESDAY’S GAME: The return from the international break will be a Unity Game to celebrate and honour Black History Month. Sceptres players and staff will be wearing shirts featuring the PWHL’s Black History Month logo designed by Kezna Dalz to kick off the night. Toronto will welcome Hockey Hall of Famer Angela James to join the teams for a ceremonial face off. Anthem singer Kalista Wilson and DJ Shannyn Hill, Black Girl Hockey Club Canada, Hockey Equality and the Hockey Diversity Alliance will also be in the house, plus Nursey Night, presented by Rogers, is back welcoming Hockey 4 Youth. In arena, fans can watch for videos highlighting Black-owned restaurants in the city and the work of Dr. Jean Augustine and her Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment. Members of the Toronto Marlies will participate in a t-shirt toss.
