WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Boston has won both of their games against New York this season, one of two teams the Fleet are undefeated against this season (also against Ottawa). The Sirens have beaten every other team besides the Fleet this season.

The Fleet won their most recent game, Jan. 31 against the Sirens, in a shootout. The Fleet are the only PWHL team undefeated in shootouts this season (2-0). Boston has earned seven points over the last four games (1-2-0-1), their best four-game stretch this season.

Aerin Frankel has won each of her last four games in goal, including the recent shootout win against New York when she surpassed 1,000 career saves (regular season + playoffs). The Chappaqua, NY, native has a 1.43 goals-against average in those games, which is best in the PWHL since Jan. 5.

Emma Söderberg backstopped Sweden to a berth in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina with two shutout performances, defeating Norway 3-0 and Netherlands 8-0. The Fleet netminder played alongside Sirens defender Maja Nylén Persson, who had two assists in three games.

Jillian Dempsey will make her Fleet debut tonight after being called up on a 10-Day contract this morning with rookie forward Hannah Bilka placed on LTIR.

Lexie Adzija scored the winning goal and added an assist in Boston’s 2-1 win over New York in the first PWHL game played at Prudential Center on Apr. 20, 2024.

This is New York’s first of three home games against Boston in a 12-day period, capped by a Feb. 23 matchup at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center as part of the PWHL Takeover Tour. The Sirens rank fifth in the PWHL with just eight points in seven games at home, while the Fleet rank sixth in the league with four points in seven games as the visiting team.

The Sirens are winless in their last two games, with three goals scored between the two games. New York is averaging 1.83 goals per game since Jan. 7, second lowest in the league (Ottawa, 1.38). The Sirens led the PWHL at 3.13 goals per game before Jan. 7.

Ella Shelton owns a four-game point streak, which included a pair of goals in the last meeting with Boston (her first multi-goal game in the PWHL). The Sirens lead the PWHL in goals by defenders (nine), and the Fleet are tied for second (seven).

Sarah Fillier is tied for the PWHL scoring lead with 15 points (5G, 10A) and is riding a six-game point streak (1G, 5A). A point tonight by the Sirens rookie would tie the PWHL record set by teammate Alex Carpenter who opened the season with points in seven straight games (5G, 5A).

The Sirens have scored at least one third-period goal in each of their last five games (including all three of their goals in their last two games combined). New York is tied for second in the PWHL with 15 third period goals this season (Toronto is first with 17) and their plus-six goal differential in the final frame is best in the league.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“Coming back from the international break, it’s all about staying disciplined, winning battles along the boards and executing on special teams. Especially during our stretch here on the road, we need to control the pace, keep things simple, and play a full 60 minutes.” – Fleet Head Coach Courtney Kessel.

“We’re excited to get back at it tonight against Boston. We know this is a critical stretch for us, and our focus is on getting back in the win column today. With the season reaching its midpoint, there are no surprises—we know the level of compete it takes and the importance of playing a connected game every night. It feels like our team is ready to take the next step together, and we’re looking forward to bringing that to life on the ice.” - Sirens Head Coach Greg Fargo.

WEDNESDAY’S GAME: Tonight is the 45th game of the 2024-25 PWHL regular season which officially marks the end of the schedule’s first half. The Sirens will pay tribute to First Responders with special in-game recognition, honoring their dedication and service to the community. Fans will receive commemorative rally towels courtesy of PWHL partner Woody Creek Distillers to amplify the energy in Prudential Center.
