WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Boston’s 4-0 win at New York last week was the Fleet’s third straight win against the Sirens and first shutout win this season (second all-time - Mar. 13, 2024, at Minnesota). The Fleet were the third team in the league with a shutout win this season joining the Sirens (three) and Charge (one).

Aerin Frankel recorded the shutout against the Sirens last week, saving all 25 shots that came her way. She has eight games with 25 or more saves this season, second most in the league behind Corinne Schroeder (nine, including 27 against the Fleet last week).

Jill Saulnier enters a rematch against her former Sirens teammates following a career-high two-point performance for the Fleet with a goal and an assist in yesterday’s 4-2 win over Minnesota.

Susanna Tapani is also coming off her third multi-point game of the season and is tied for fourth in the league with seven goals. The top goal scorer in today’s game already has two tallies in the season series.

Hilary Knight as recorded an assist in all three games against New York this season.

The Fleet are playing back-to-back games for the first time in team history. Boston hosted a Presidents’ Day matinee during the inaugural season, falling 4-2 to Ottawa on Feb. 19, 2024, at the Tsongas Center. Taylor Girard, now a member of the Sirens, scored one of Boston’s two goals. Megan Keller had two assists, Knight and Loren Gabel had one assist each.

This is New York’s second of three home games against Boston in a 12-day period, capped by a matchup this coming Sunday at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center as part of the PWHL Takeover Tour. The Sirens have the league’s lowest winning percentage in eight games at home (.333), while the Fleet have the lowest winning percentage in nine games as the visiting team (.259).

The Sirens have lost each of their last two games by four goals (4-0 vs. Boston, 6-2 vs. Montréal). New York is tied for the most losses by four or more goals this season with Minnesota (2).

Ella Shelton and Keller are tied for the PWHL lead in goals by defenders this season. Keller’s five goals are already more than her total from last season (four), while Shelton led all PWHL defenders with seven goals in 2024. Keller is Boston’s top scorer in the season series with four points (3G, 1A), Shelton has scored two of the Sirens’ four goals against the Fleet.

Sarah Fillier assisted Jessie Eldridge’s goal Saturday, the eighth time this season Fillier and Eldridge have combined on a goal this season (either as assisters or scorers). That is tied with Toronto’s Hannah Miller and Renata Fast for the most goals combined on by any PWHL duo this season. Fillier has two assists in the season series, while Eldridge has been held without a point in three games against Boston.

Fillier assisted on both of the Sirens’ goals against the Victoire for her third multi-point game this season. Despite being held off the scoresheet against Boston on Wednesday, the first overall pick has tallied a point in 13 of her 16 games played this season - the most games with a point among all PWHL players.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“I think just focusing on our game and what we bring to the table will set us up nicely for (Monday). We have all the pieces we need in that room, so dialing in on that and believing in each other every shift is all we need and the rest will take care of itself” - Fleet forward Jill Saulnier.

"I’m really excited to play at home and play in front of our fans. It’s another opportunity to play and show what Sirens hockey is all about. When we play Boston, there is always high intensity and physicality, and we are ready to make our impact right from the drop of the puck." - Sirens forward Taylor Girard.

MONDAY’S GAME: It’s Kid’s Day at Prudential Center in a holiday game packed with exciting activations for youngsters, including appearances by mascots NJ Devil and The Tiger from Princeton University, plus special recognitions for local youth organizations. Adding to the celebration, Kelley O’Hara, a recently retired USWNT star and two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist will kick things off with a ceremonial puck drop. It’s a day filled with hockey, fun, and community spirit!
