WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The Fleet scored a 3-2 win over Ottawa when the teams met last month. Each of the last three meetings between the teams have been decided by one goal or a shootout.

Each of Boston’s three games in January have gone to overtime as the team sandwiched OT losses to Minnesota around a shootout win against Montréal in Seattle. It’s the second-longest streak of OT games in the regular season in PWHL history, behind New York’s five-game streak last Jan-Feb.

This is Boston’s sixth straight road game in 16 days since Dec. 27. The Fleet look to return home with their first regulation win, carrying a 0-1-2-3 overall record away from the Tsongas Center.

After being held without a point in her first game against Ottawa, Hilary Knight has had a point in five straight games in the matchup – her longest point streak against any opponent.

Hannah Bilka has scored in two straight games and is second in rookie scoring with seven points (3G, 4A) in nine games.

Kanata native Jamie Lee Rattray has scored three of her four career goals against her hometown team, including her lone goal of the 2024-25 season on Dec. 17. She scored her first career PWHL goal in her first game at TD Place last Jan. 24.

These two teams lead the PWHL with six international players each. Today’s game will have representation from seven different countries (AUT, CZE, FIN, SUI, SWE plus CAN & USA).

Ottawa will be playing their first game at TD Place since a 3-2 win over Toronto on Dec. 3 and their first home game since a Dec. 6 loss against Montréal at Canadian Tire Centre. Including Saturday, the Charge have 12 true home games (plus one in Edmonton) remaining, the most of any PWHL team.

The Charge have followed a three-game losing streak with a three-game win streak with all three victories coming in regulation. It’s tied for the longest regulation win streak in team history with a three-game streak last Mar-Apr. The game that ended that run was a shootout win over Boston.

Brianne Jenner had an assist in the Charge’s win over New York giving the captain a team-leading four assists recorded in four different games. In her career, Jenner has 13 games with at least one assist, the most by any player in team history.

Despite injuries to top line centre Kateřina Mrázová and top-4 defenders Jincy Roese and Ronja Savolainen, the Charge recorded their highest shot total (37) and best shot differential (+14) of the season against New York.

The Charge have activated all three of their season-opening Reserves including defenders Jessica Adolfsson, Sam Isbell, and forward Taylor House. They’re in line to make their home debut along with newly acquired forward Victoria Bach and defender Jocelyne Larocque. Bach’s only multi-point game (2A) of her career came at TD Place playing for Toronto Mar. 2.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“When we looked at the schedule and knew what was coming, we were able to prepare mentally. It’s been a fun trip for our group to really get to know each other on the planes, buses, and hotels. It came early in the season, so I think we're going to see this pay off at the end of the year with our group bonding throughout this long trip.” - Fleet Head Coach Courtney Kessel.

“We’re certainly excited to have a couple games here at home and get back to TD Place. We’re going to get back to our fans and feel some excitement when we get the chance to score goals. We’ll get to feed off the fans. Obviously, coming into the season, we knew this first stretch was going to be what it's been. I'm really proud of our group and how well we've managed it.” - Charge Head Coach Carla MacLeod.

SATURDAY’S GAME:  It’s Minor Hockey Day and all Charge players will be wearing local minor hockey team jerseys for their walk-in. Minor hockey jerseys will be on display at the merchandise stands and minor hockey teams in attendance will be recognized. Rebecca Leslie will talk about growing up playing minor hockey in Ottawa, and young hockey players will ask Charge players questions during interviews with in-arena host Johanna. The Canadian Tire poster station will be back up on the concourse and the Ottawa Firefighters will be outside section 18 selling their 2025 calendars in collaboration with CHEO. Allegra Nocita will sing the National Anthems.
