WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Ottawa has won both of their games against New York this season, the only team the Charge has not lost to during this campaign. The Sirens and Charge both won two of the four matchups between these teams last season.

The Sirens lost their last game to the Sceptres, 4-2, while only having 19 shots on goal. That is New York’s fewest in a game since Jan. 26, 2024 against Toronto (also 19).

Alex Carpenter is one of two players this season to have at least 10 points while having zero penalty minutes, along with Minnesota’s Taylor Heise. Carpenter was the only player to finish last season with such marks. She is tied for fourth in scoring despite just one assist in her last four games.

First and second overall draft picks Sarah Fillier and Danielle Serdachny face off for the third time this season, each with one goal in two games against each other. Fillier is tied for second in league scoring and enters the action riding a three-game point streak (1G, 2A).

Kayle Osborne, who hails from nearby Westport, will make her homecoming debut tonight. The Sirens rookie goaltender made her first PWHL start against the Charge on Jan. 7 and made 34 saves in a 3-2 loss.

New York leads the PWHL with a power play efficiency of 22.2%, while Ottawa ranks sixth at 12.5%.

The Charge earned a 1-0 shutout against the Frost in their last game, Ottawa’s first time shutting out its opponent since Apr. 20, 2024 against Minnesota (4-0). It was the first time the Charge had ever earned a victory when scoring one goal.

Brianne Jenner scored the lone goal for Ottawa against Minnesota, her first of the season, snapping a 12-game goalless drought dating back to last year. The captain is tied for second on the team in points with five.

Against the Frost, Gwyneth Philips became the first rookie to record a shutout in PWHL history. She had allowed four goals versus Minnesota in her first ever PWHL game on Dec. 19, 2024. At 24 years and 126 days, she is the youngest player to record a PWHL shutout all-time, edging New York’s Corinne Schroeder’s age by 11 days from the time she posted the first-ever PWHL shutout on Jan. 1, 2024.

Ottawa relied on Shiann Darkangelo (2-0-2) and Emily Clark (2-1-3) in the first two wins against New York. Both players have a game-winning goal against the Sirens.

Kateřina Mrázová is ready to return after a five-game absence due to a lower body injury. The 32-year-old Czech has one goal and four points in seven games this season, mostly playing on the team’s first line. She finished second in team scoring last season (6-12-18) behind only Jenner (9-11-20).

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“We’re looking forward to this game in Ottawa tonight as we weren’t satisfied with our last game and the effort in Toronto on Saturday. We know there is a standard at which we need to play, and we want to hit that and keep it. The standings are incredibly tight, and every game has playoff implications. It sure feels like the race to the playoffs is on.” - Sirens Head Coach Greg Fargo.

Charge Head Coach Carla MacLeod on the return of Kateřina Mrázová: “It’s nice to see her back out there, anyone that watches our group understands the impact she has. She is one of the better players in the world. She knows it. We know it. It's just nice to have that confidence and experience back. She's moving pucks like she normally does and she’s looking like herself.”

MONDAY’S GAME: The Charge return to TD Place for the first time since Jan. 14 looking for their first win here since the home-opener on Dec. 3. Tonight’s Unity Game sponsored by SharkNinja Canada celebrates Community Heroes. Among others, the Charge will honor Alex Therien of the Nepean Jr. Wildcats and Kate Viel of the Ottawa Jr. Sens who won gold for Canada at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship in Finland. The Capital City Condors, a team close to Brianne Jenner’s heart, will be playing a first intermission scrimmage. Condors Founder Jim Perkins and long-time volunteer and director of coaching Courtney Rego will also be recognized.
