WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

The Victoire have won all three games this season against the Charge, with each victory coming by a one-goal margin or a shootout. Montréal also won four of their five matchups against Ottawa last season.

Ottawa was shut out in their last game against New York, 3-0, after picking up a 1-0 win in their previous game against Minnesota. The Charge are the only team in PWHL history to be involved in shutouts in back-to-back regular season games.

Emily Clark had four shots on goal in her last game against the Sirens, her fifth time reaching that mark this season. That is tied for the second most such games by any PWHL player this season behind Taylor Heise (MIN, 6).

The Charge have enjoyed their most success on the road with a league-leading 13 points in eight games compared to a league-low four points in five home games.

Ottawa has averaged only 1.85 goals-per-game this season, lowest in the PWHL. They have not scored more than three goals in their last 17 games dating back to Apr. 20, 2024 (4-0 vs. MIN). Their 11.5% power play efficiency also ranks sixth.

Tereza Vanišová was assessed her second major penalty of the season against New York and was fined $500 by the league. The Czech winger leads the team in scoring despite a seven-game scoreless streak.

Montréal’s last game came back on Jan. 19, also against Ottawa, which was a 2-1 victory at Centre Videotron in Québec. The Victoire have never won back-to-back games where both matchups came against the same opponent. The team split a back-to-back series against Boston (Dec. 30 & Jan. 5) earning 4 of 6 points and split 4-2 decisions with Minnesota (Jan. 12 & 17).

The Victoire are hosting both Canadian rivals in back-to-back nights at Place Bell. Montréal is undefeated against teams from its neighbouring province this season, winning all five contests and collecting 13 points out of 15 in the process.

Montréal has held their opponents to zero first-period goals in five of their last six games. The Victoire have allowed six total goals in the opening frame this season, fewest among all PWHL teams.

Erin Ambrose has recorded multiple assists in each of her last two games (3+2) after having three combined assists over her first nine games this season. The only other PWHL player to have back-to-back multi-assist games this season was Heise (Dec 7-19).

With Minnesota’s shootout win against Toronto last night, Montréal slipped back into second place, two points behind the Frost, but can reclaim first place with a win in regulation tonight. Montréal has played four less games than Minnesota.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

“I think we’ve just got to keep bringing the energy, stay positive. We have a great group. We like what we're doing. We know we’ve just got to own the opposing net-front a little bit more and score more goals.” - Charge defender Jincy Roese.

“I feel great. We were very happy to be back on Monday. I like our energy. Yes, maybe the execution won't be perfect from the start, but that's the beauty of team sports and that's why we're going to lean on each other.” - Victoire defender Erin Ambrose.

WEDNESDAY’S GAME: It’s Montréal’s Community Heroes Night presented by SharkNinja Canada, as the spotlight will be on Parahockey Montréal, who will be welcoming the Victoire to the ice prior to the National Anthem, to be performed by Alyssa Daunais. Raphaëlle Tousignant, a woman who has played with the men’s Canadian Para Ice Hockey Team, will be honoured during the game. The Laval Sharks ringette team will play a mini-match during the first intermission. PWHL partner Royale is bringing The Inaugural Six – a striking work of art that was crafted with the very hockey sticks used in the PWHL’s first season – created by artist Briony Douglas to Place Bell. The larger-than-life sculpture shaped into a hockey helmet, symbolizes the unity, strength, and resilience of the players. Fans will be able to observe this unique piece of art at the exit of sections 113-114. It will be on display for both the Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 games.
