We are proud to celebrate Black History Month - as part of our Unity Games series - to highlight the impact and legacy of our Black athletes and communities on and off the ice.

The vibrant artwork featured on our Black History Month logo is created by Kezna Dalz, a Montréal-based multidisciplinary artist. Known for her bold use of color and ability to transform difficult subjects into accessible and inviting imagery, Kezna’s unique artistic style captures the spirit of resilience, community, and joy that resonates throughout Black history and culture — on and off the ice.

Black History Month Unity Game

SCEPTRES @ VICTOIRE

The Victoire will celebrate Black History Month on Feb. 25, 2025, when they host the Toronto Sceptres at Place Bell. The Unity Game will include a variety of activations designed to recognize the importance of Black history, while highlighting Black voices and organizations.

In-Game Activations:

  • Dressing Room Starting Line-Up Read: Members of Black Girl Hockey Club Canada will take part in a special moment by announcing the starting lineup for the Montréal Victoire. This initiative highlights the presence and contributions of Black voices in hockey, creating a powerful connection between the players and the community.
  • Ceremonial Puck Drop: Kezna Dalz; a Montréal-based multidisciplinary artist known for her vibrant, bold, and expressive work that celebrates diversity, empowerment, and social change. With a distinct artistic style that blends illustration, street art, and digital media, Kenza’s work often highlights themes of feminism, inclusion, and cultural identity. She designed the PWHL’s Black History Month logo, bringing her unique creative vision to a symbol that honors Black excellence in hockey.
  • Intermission Features:
    • Pre-Game Interview with Mikyla Grant-Mentis
    • A live interview with a Pour 3 points representative will showcase their mission, and initiatives aimed at growing grassroot sports in underserved communities.
  • Pour 3 points

    A Montréal-based organization that transforms sports coaches into life coaches, equipping them with the skills to mentor youth beyond the game. By focusing on social-emotional learning, leadership development, and equity-driven coaching practices, Pour 3 Points empowers young athletes from underserved communities to thrive both on and off the ice.

  • Black Girl Hockey Club Canada

    A non-profit organization focused on breaking down barriers for Black women, their families, and allies in hockey. Through financial aid, scholarships, mentorship, and safe community spaces, BGHC Canada supports and uplifts Black players in the sport while actively working to make hockey more inclusive.
