This Women's Empowerment Month, we are celebrating the women shaping the future both on and off the ice as part of our Unity Games series. This series is dedicated to bringing together players, fans and communities. Join us in our efforts to to inspire future generations of women to continue breaking barriers and achieving success.

The unique artwork and logo design is created by Fiorella Granda, a Toronto-based designer and illustrator. The design represents a powerful story of celebration, community, and inclusivity. It is a tribute to the resilience, strength, and unity of women in sports, symbolizing the ongoing fight for equality and visibility in sports.

In-Game Activations:

  • Player Walk-Ins: Players will arrive wearing Women’s Empowerment Month shirts, featuring Fiorella’s logo—a powerful emblem that goes beyond celebrating women’s achievements in hockey. It represents the ongoing fight for equality, visibility, and progress in sports.
    • Para Hockey Inclusion: Players will walk in alongside members of the CAD Women’s Para Hockey Team, who will also be wearing the shirts. This moment highlights the importance of representation, accessibility, and inclusivity within the sport.
    • Rapid FC Players of the NSL will also take part in the Walk-Ins to highlight other Professional female athletes
  • Canada Women’s Para Hockey Interview: Interview with player Justyne Bennett and The president of WPHC, Emilie Robitaille- members of Canada’s Women’s Para Hockey program will be present to showcase the growing opportunities for women in the sport and engage with fans.
  • Warrior of the Game: Lisa Wallace, a distinguished freelance reporter for The Canadian Press, has been a trailblazer in Ottawa sports media for over 22 years. As the first female sports reporter in the region, she has played a pivotal role in covering both professional and amateur sports, paving the way for future generations of female journalists and media professionals in the Ottawa sports community. Her dedication and contributions have helped shape a more inclusive and representative sports media landscape.
  • During the first intermission, young athletes from the NGHA FUNdamentals program will take to the ice for a mini-game, proudly wearing pink Barbie jerseys in celebration of Women’s Empowerment Month. Inspired by the iconic message of Barbie—"You Can Be Anything"—this showcase highlights the limitless potential of young girls in hockey and beyond.

Rosie the Hockey Player

  • The PWHL and the PWHLPA are partnering with author Jenna M. Prestidge on the launch of her seventh book in the bestselling series “Rosie the Hockey Player: The History of Women’s Hockey”, which celebrates the achievements of the many women who have helped grow the game of hockey. The book will be released on March 8, International Women’s Day, and available for purchase only on the PWHL Shop through the end of March. A donation will be made to benefit Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and Women's Sports Foundation.
